Definition
Super Audio CD (SACD) refers to disc mastered using the Scarlet book specifications which was introduced in 1999 as a successor to standard red book Audio CDs. They have more in common with DVDs than other CD types and features heavy encryption that has never been fully cracked.
Like DVDs, SACDs can be both single or dual layer. Often the first layer is made up of a standard Audio CD containing the same content as the SACD layer in order to make the disc work in a standard CD player.

No SACD certified drives were ever released for PC which combined with the encryption makes them exceptionally hard to dump. Methods using a PS3 or a Blu-ray player with SACD support exists, but these are believed to be capturing the full set of data and currently Redump does not accept SACD dumps made using any method.
