Definition

MiniDiscs are magneto-optical (MO) storage media developed by Sony in 1992 primarily used for distributing audio. An extension of the MiniDisc format called MD Data was released in 1993, which was then further extended into the Hi-MD format in 2004. As of this time, Redump.info is unsure whether to extend the project's optical-only scope to include magneto-optical formats.

Dumping Research

As of this time there is no known method to fully image an audio MiniDisc. Possible avenues of research involve the rare PC MD Data drives, NetMD-compatible MiniDisc audio player/recorders, or deconstructing an existing device and creating an adapter for PC.
