Definition

Symbian was an operating system used by EPOC processor devices from 1998-2013. Symbian devices are generally backwards compatible with J2ME (.JAR/.JAD) programs, but J2ME-compatible devices aren't necessarily compatible with Symbian (.SIS) programs. Discs with both .JAR and .SIS programs should go into this system and not Oracle J2ME. The Symbian system additionally includes the Nokia N-Gage, a gaming-focused Symbian handheld. Symbian software was distributed on floppy disks, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM which would then be inserted into a computer for transfer to the device. Redump.info only handles the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM software, whereas the floppy disks are handled by other projects such as TOSEC and No-Intro.
