Idea is to put general purpose notes on moderating systems that apply to the database as a whole.

Betas/Protos

All Beta entries should have a date added to the Filename Suffix, in the format YYYY-MM-DD

The order of prioritization for the date of Betas/Protos in the datname is:

• 1. Latest file date on disc (Is there a tool for this?)
• 2. Written on Disc/Packaging/etc. (Physically written on the disc after it was made, usually most accurate)
• 3. Build Date (.EXE Date, Header, or similar file)
• 4. PVD (Often incorrect, watch out for placeholders, use common sense.)

Note: Proto is used in datname instead of Beta if the game is unreleased at retail for that system (including unreleased for a specific console region).

Filename Suffix

Pre-Order and First-Print bonus discs do not get use the Filename Suffix like "X Game Bundle" editions do.

All Beta entries should have a date added to the Filename Suffix, in the format YYYY-MM-DD

Disc number

Disc numbers should be standardised to Arabic numerals so e.g.

• One, Two --> 1, 2
• I, II --> 1, 2

Disc numbers should be standardised to either remove 0-padding (for sets with less than 10 discs) or to add it (for sets of 10+ discs) so e.g.:

• Disc 01-03 --> Disc 1-3
• Disc 1-11 --> Disc 01-11

Edition

For Unlicensed editions where multiple variants exist, or where something is other than as standard, use parenthesis such as Unlicensed (Limited Edition) to identify the specific edition

Eligibility

General karaoke is not eligible for redump (unless released on a console/system where all discs are eligible by default).

Official pressed Photo CDs are all eligible, regardless of content.

For hybrid discs, where one system is eligible for redump and one isn't e.g. a PC/Amiga hybrid that isn't game related. In these cases, the disc will be eligible if any system is eligible, and it will be added to the (eligible) system's dat. In this example, Amiga.

All NUON enhanced DVDs are permitted due to the low quantity.

If a disc is dual-sided, where one side of the disc contains gaming content, but the other does not, since the disc cannot be separated and contains gaming content, both sides are eligible for addition to redump e.g a Cartoon Network PC disc that has games on one side and some cartoons on the other.

Main Title

Compilation discs with multiple games/titles on them should be recorded in the database separated by the '/' character, unless another character is used on the item.

Region

Region should generally be where a disc was meant to be sold. But there are a couple of exceptions.

• OEM bundles get the region of where the dumper is located. Alternatively what country it was bought from if not locally.
• Discs distributed through mail order gets the region of where the disc was sent from (often the same as where the publisher is based). This also applies for crowdfunded releases where the disc is a physical reward.

Notes on error count

It has been agreed by staff that the "error count" field on redump should follow the output of redumper/edccchk. When adding verifications, this may result in discrepancies with historic information prior to this change - if in doubt, the error count should be set according to the redumper/edccchk output

Technical notes

There are various types of error that may occur / be detected when dumping a disc:

1. ECC error: ECC recovery information doesn't match the data ECC apply on
2. EDC error: CRC error that says that sector is damaged
3. CDXA subheader mismatch, this affects only mode 2 sectors, basically each sector from mode 2 contains a copy of subheader information, this is an error when copy doesn't match original
4. Data sector has invalid sync header
5. Sector has invalid mode (according to specs it can be 0, 1 or 2, nothing else)

For the purposes of redump, error count focuses on the first three entries - ECC/EDC errors and CDXA subheader mismatch - and these are what is output by redumper/edccchk. The remaining two may be useful indicators of mastering issues and, in some cases, it may be helpful to add notes to the comments of the entry regarding these, but they should not be included in the "error count" field.

Invalid barcodes

Download the datfile: https://redump.info/barcodes<br> Use the text import wizard in Excel, Delimited with Semicolon. The first column are the disc id's, e.g. 51805 = https://redump.info/disc/51805/. Use text to columns, delimited with a comma, to split all the barcodes for each row into different columns. Move all the barcodes in the different columns to a single row (this takes some excel handiness). Remove any T's, spaces and special characters. UPC's should have 11 digits and EAN 12. If a number in the excel sheet has 10 digits or less, then you probably have to add leading zeroes. Format the cells as custom with 00000000000. Use a website like www.eancheck.com to enter all the barcodes. if you find erroneous ones, look up the corresponding disc id in the excel sheet or .dat and determine the correct one. In some cases, EAN numbers have extra numbers behind them. This is correct for magazine titles. These numbers should be omitted from the check. If you find an erroneous barcode, but the barcode field is locked, then ask the admins to fix it. It should be possible to make this check scripted/automated, or to build a validation check into the forms.
