Replacement lasers for Plextor drives
This guide is for helping people finding replacement laser units (OPU) of Plextor drives whose laser is broken. Drives listed below carry the same OPU and can generally (see notes) be used as donor drives.
Note that a lot of info on this page is currently based on assumptions and what has worked for some might not work for everyone.

PX-W4012 (Sanyo SF-W33L)

Not Recommended. The NEC drives use an older revision of the OPU that does not work with the Plextors. There have been reports though of some working anyway, so possible that some drives did release with the later revision.
Sanyo SF-DB10SA:

Not Recommended. This revision uses a different connector and is physically incompatible with the Plextors.

Not Recommended. This revision is commonly found on Aliexpress and while its original drive is unknown. It does not work with the Plextors.
