CD-Lock

General Information

DRM used by and most likely made by Eidos interactive as well as a few publishers they partnered with. It's currently unknown where the name "CD-Lock" came from but most likely not the official name of the DRM.

Identification

Non-mixed mode discs with this DRM will always have 4 tracks (example). Two Audio and two Data surrounding them and if present. Track 4 will have 75 sectors with invalid sync and many MSF errors.

The DRM itself makes use of a fake TOC and a series of dummy files called ".VPP", all of which should be way too large to actually fit on the disc.

Dumping

Dump it like a normal CD.

Additional Information

Bitpool protected discs will often have an identical track configuration as CD-Lock. What sets CD-Lock apart though is the lack of any EDC errors as the DRM is based around a fake TOC instead.

Identification using BoS is a bit sketchy at the moment, and program will sometimes report a false positive on discs that lack it.
