General Information

Storefront from Electronic arts introduced in 2011 as an evolution of the EA Download Manager and store originally from 2005. It was itself later replaced with the so-called EA App in 2020.

In terms of Disc DRM, Origin used an improved form of Cucko (EA Custom) Online Activation with the same set of files but which ties into the Origin client itself. Some discs also used extra protection in the form of SecuROM (of which EA used a custom version), SolidShield and Denuvo.

Identification

Discs with Origin will often carry the logo on the case as well as an origin client installer on disc. Unlike Steam the games themselves are not encrypted in any special way and uses normal installers.

Dumping

Dump it like a normal disc. Servers for Origin are down so the only way to play without a crack is to activate the game on the EA App instead.

Additional Information

Like most Storefront DRM determining language of Origin discs can be very hard and it's often better to leave the fields empty. Origin itself was introduced in 2011 with Battlefield 3, so no game released prior to this should be listed as using Origin.
