Redump.info Discs with Bitpool
General Information
DRM used primarily by games developed in Germany as well as those distributed by THQ in Europe. Creator and real name are unknown though its possibly tied to CeQuadrat GmbH and their WinOnCD mastering software.
Identification
Discs with Bitpool will carry 2 dummy files called bitpool.rsc (which has given it its Redump name) and CD.IDX as well as a string with CeQuadrat GmbH in the PVD sector of the disc. DRM itself is based around EDC/ECC errors but the amount of them varies greatly. Older discs will generally just have a single one but later can have as many as 110k.
Like CD-Lock the DRM will commonly also have audio tracks surrounded by 2 data tracks, but unlike said DRM this is no rule and discs without it has been encountered as well. If Present Track 4 will have 75 sectors with Invalid sync and many sectors with MSF errors.
Being most likely tied to the original gold master makes the DRM flexible and is sometimes also found in combo with other DRM. Most notably Copy-X.
Dumping
If standalone just dump the disc like a normal CD. If Copy-X is present as well, see the page for that DRM.
