General Information
Twin Sector based DRM by the Korean company Settec INC and which was found on games from all over eastern Asia during the 2000s. Both a CD and DVD version exists, and Alpha-ROM itself was part of a suite by Settec called Alpha-Disc. Which included a few other DRM solutions including the Redump relevant online-activation based Alpha-Activation. Protection was also often paired with companion DRMs such as Themida and SVKP.
Identification
No loose files on disc are associated with Alpha-ROM. BoS also often have a hard time detecting the DRM itself and will often just see SVKP so the easiest way of identifying Alpha-ROM is going either by said companion DRM, or the Alpha-Disc logo that's often present on games with the DRM. DVDs will also always have SCSI errors towards the end of the disc.
Unlike fellow Twin Sector based DRM TAGES, Alpha-ROM was not tied to a single plant.
Alpha-Activation - TBW
Dumping
CDs: Dump it like a normal disc. These can only be done with a Plextor or H353C as Omnidrive will produce a varying amount of MSF errors during the dump.
DVDs: A dump will pretty much always have 100s of SCSI errors towards the end of the disc and for it to be accepted by Redump, these needs to be refined down to exactly 87. Note that Redumper wont see Alpha-ROM so --force-split might be needed, and some later Alpha-ROM discs seems to not have these errors in which case, dump it like a normal disc.
