The purpose of this page is to give you a brief overview about the process for contributing to redump and assisting the project!

More details can be found in the various sections of the wiki and on the forum, but the general process for contributing is as follows:

Getting Started

1. Request a redump account on the forum.

Apply for an account ("Register" in top-right corner) with a username, email, and password. Please check your spam folder for the registration email (and mark as not spam).

2. Review the wiki and particularly the Dumping Guides which cover a lot and answer most questions about contributions.

If you still have questions, you can reach out on the forum or in the VGPC (Video Game Preservation Collective) Discord.

3. Submit a disc dump

  1. Login to https://redump.info/ and then click on Add Disc to go to the disc submission form.
  2. Fill in the fields to the best of your ability, including the dumping logs (or the name/version of the dumping program if it does not produce logs), and a link to your logs zip hosted elsewhere such as dropbox or mega.nz
  3. Wait for a moderator to process your submission. You may view the queue of current submissions to see the status. If your submission was rejected, you should re-submit the disc dump again with the requested changes (such as re-dump with new logs, transcribing ringcodes, etc).
  4. Please note! This process is the same for new discs and also verifications. Both are submitted through this form!

4. Making fixes

If there is a mistake in your submission, wait until it has been processed and then submit an edit request. When logged in, press the Edit button on a disc change, edit the field(s) you wish to change, and submit. Just like disc submissions, it will join a queue to be processed by a moderator who will check the edit request and process it.

As you are getting started, please take your time with your early submissions. Many questions can be answered by reviewing the wiki and the submission guides / threads referenced above. However, if you still need more assistance, please reach out for help either in the Dumping help area of the forum, or in the VGPC Discord. There are plenty of people willing to assist you!

Submission Guide

Follow this visual guide for how to fill in each field in the submission form. Depending on the selected system, there may be different fields for you to fill in.

Note: The "dump log" section should contain the dumping program's log file(s), e.g. redumper's .log file, not MPF's !submissionInfo.txt file.
