For the majority of Blu-ray Video discs, any Blu-ray compatible drive is acceptable for submission, with the exception of bus-encryption-enabled (BEE) discs. For BEE discs, either an old Blu-ray drive without bus encryption feature is needed, or a LibreDrive-compatible drive is needed, and MakeMKV must be launched (and then closed) prior to dumping.
In particular these are the half-height LG/ASUS drives with JB8 PCB code, such as the ASUS BW-16D1HT (drives manufactured in 2016 onwards).

Note: This page is a work-in-progress. A list is needed of tested drives confirmed to be good.

Some Blu-ray drive models also support redump standards for CD dumping.

For a full list of drives that are likely good for dumping BD-Video for redump, check this list on the MakeMKV forums.
