Note: Determining the exact model for these drives can be tricky as the label will have two letters on them denoting hardware revision (H/W:) and version (Ver.). Only the Version number is relevant when determining the model though and hardware revision should be ignored.

Specific models of Xbox360 drives can be connected to a PC with custom hardware and flashed with custom firmware to allow redump-compatible dumping using XBC (XboxBackupCreator). The process to connect stock drives to PC, flash them, and dump with them is extremely complicated and prone to mistakes. Dumping Original Xbox discs with these drives is an extremely slow and tedious process as they do not skip the security sector ranges, with each sector reporting as a read error. While Original Xbox discs dumped using stock Xbox360 drives are still acceptable for redump submission, we highly recommend and prefer dumps via redumper with Kreon drives. If you are unable to get one of the Kreon drives above and are comfortable working with hardware and computers, the instructions are below:
