This is a GameCube and Wii dumping guide using the Nintendo Wii. In addition, Wii games can also be dumped with a modded Wii U.

==Tools==
* A modded Wii with Homebrew Channel installed. (Follow [http://wii.guide/ this guide] to softmod your Wii).
* SD Card or NTFS/FAT formatted USB Drive (16GB or bigger will be big enough to dump dual-layer discs).
** A USB hard drive may be used, but must be externally powered or connected to a [https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/11/guide_using_usb_storage_with_the_wii_u USB Y-Cable].
* [https://github.com/emukidid/cleanrip/releases CleanRip] (Version 2.3.1+, don't download the "-gc" zip)
** NOTE: For unlicensed Datel discs use [https://github.com/spycrab/cleanrip/releases/tag/2.0.0-datel2 'CleanRip 2.0.0-datel2'] (do NOT use the regular version above)
* [https://github.com/SabreTools/MPF/releases MPF.UI] (or any form of MPF with MPF.Check included). [Optional but recommended]

==Dumping==
* Launch CleanRip from the Homebrew Channel.
* Press A to accept the disclaimer.
* Select Yes when CleanRip asks to use Checksums to verify the dump.
* Select the device type you want to dump to: USB Drive (Recommended) or the Front SD Card slot.
* Select the filesystem type of your device: 
** NTFS (single ISO file but compatibility is spotty) 
** or FAT (splits Wii ISOs into multiple files when dumping)
* Connect the USB Drive and press A.
* CleanRip will now search the device for a redump.org DAT file for the Wii and GC (these should be named wii.dat and gc.dat respectively and placed in the root directory of the device). If it can't find those files it gives you the option to download them for you.
* Insert the disc into the Wii and press A to start dumping. 
** If the inserted disc is a Wii disc, an extra setup screen appears:
*** [Wii ONLY]: Select if this disc is Dual Layer or not. (Check [https://redump.info/discs/system/wii_DL/ here] for a list of Dual Layer discs.)
*** [Wii ONLY]: Select the Chunk Size (choose MAX).
*** [Wii ONLY]: Select New Device Per Chunk (choose NO unless your device is too small to hold a single dump.)
* Let the dump finish, a hash will appear on the screen when it is done. If an error appears try cleaning the disc and re-dumping. If errors persist, seek assistance on the forums or Discord.
* You may dump multiple discs without issue so long as you have enough space.
** Be aware a second dump with the same disc will overwrite existing data.

==Submitting the Dump Info==
* Connect the SD Card/USB Drive to your PC.
* Drag all dumpinfo.txt, .bca, and .iso (or .partX.iso) files to an accessible folder on your PC.
* Open MPF.UI, select Tools > Check Dump.
* Click the Browse button next to the Input Path field and navigate to where you placed the above files.
* Select the .iso (or .part0.iso) for the dump you wish to submit and click Open.
* Change System Type to Nintendo GameCube or Nintendo Wii, change Dumping Program to CleanRip
* Click Check Dump, at this point you can follow the [/Disc_Dumping_Guide_%28MPF%29#Collecting_Information_about_your_Disc main submission guide.]

==Nintendo-Specific Info==
* '''Languages/Language Select''': Some games either show a language selection screen at startup or in the game options. Many games will boot with different languages depending on the active language selected in the BIOS. Booting the game with each language selected in the BIOS is necessary to identify the supported languages for these games. Note that it is possible to submit a game without checking the languages, but this then needs to be stated in your submission.
** Tip: Using an emulator like Dolphin can speed up the language checking dramatically since you can switch the BIOS language in the emulator settings much faster than on a real Wii.
** In Dolphin's general settings menu, enable the "Activate Dual Core" and set "Speed Limit: Unlimited" to increase the speed of language checking even further.

===Ringcodes===
The string of characters displayed on the inner rings of the disc. Check older submissions to make sure that you report everything that is needed. Make sure you have good lighting conditions and/or a magnifying glass if you have problems reading the text. Any instance of "[tab]" here on the wiki can be replaced with a full "tab" character on the new disc form or 3 space characters when submitting on the forums.
